FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I find Melee skins?

You can find a wide variety of melee skins at ssbmtextures.com.

Why doesn't MSM support stage files?

MSM doesn't currently support stage files because stage skins have a different structure compared to character files. However, it is something I plan on adding in a future version.

To replace stage files, you can always use DAT Texture Wizard.

Why can't I see my imported skin when I try to replace a skin?

When you import a skin into MSM, it is organized by character color. Each character in the game has multiple color slots (e.g., red, blue, green, etc.), and skins imported for one color slot cannot be used for another. If you imported a skin for a specific color (e.g., red), it will only be available when replacing the skin for that color slot. Make sure you're selecting the correct color for your skin when replacing it.

Why doesn't MSM work with Akaneia / M-ex ISOs?

MSM currently doesn't support M-ex or Akaneia ISOs because these builds alter the structure of the ISO, and MSM is designed to work with the vanilla structure. If there is enough demand, support for these builds may be added in a future version.

Will a Mac or Linux version be available?

Currently, there are no plans to release a Mac or Linux version. Developing for these platforms is a little more complicated, and since most users are on Windows, the focus will remain on that platform for the foreseeable future.

What is MSM written in / how was it developed?

MSM was primarily written in C. The user interface is built using ImGui (some C++), and GLFW + OpenGL is used for rendering. This combination provides efficient performance and a smooth user experience.

Where do I report a bug or request a feature?

Join the MSM discord. There are channels dedicated to reporting bugs and requesting features.
